James Murphy answers a few questions for Metal Rules!!

 

Testament update January 1997:

The news about Testament seems to be changing quickly. First the band broke up. James Murphy went off to release his new CD "Convergences" and Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson stuck it out. They went by the name ''Dog Faced Gods" and on drums was former Machine Head member Chris Kontos. Chris has since left and Chuck and Eric have decided to stick with the Testament name. Lets hope they get a band together SOON and continue in the same vein as LOW.

Well here some new info on what James Murphy has been up to and the news from the Testament camp.

Metal Rules:
I haven't been able to find your solo CD around here anywhere :( Can you tell me where I can order it from?

YOU CAN ORDER IT THROUGH THE SHRAPNEL AD IN THE RECENT ISSUE OF GUITAR MAGAZINE (STEVE VAI ON COVER). MAIL ORDER INSTRUCTIONS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE AD. THE AD IS ON THE INSIDE OF THE FRONT COVER I THINK.

MR:
It is on shrapnel right?

JM:
YEP.

MR:
Music from that label very rarely comes to the music stores in my area...I even went in and asked for it. When I said it was on shrapnel they said they don't have any CD's from that label...fuckers.

JM:
THEY CAN EASILY ORDER IT. JUST TELL THEM THAT IT IS AVAILABLE THROUGH R.E.D. DISTRIBUTORS (RELATIVITY ENTERTAINMENT DISTRIBUTION)

MR:
Will you be touring for your CD?

JM:
NO, EXCEPT FOR MAYBE CLINICS.

MR:
Are you looking to join a band again?

JM:
YES POSSIBLY, BUT I MAY TAKE SOME TIME TO DO ANOTHER DISINCARNATE CD. (It appears as if former Napalm Death vocalist will appear on this CD -ed.)

MR
I heard that Testament (Chuck, Eric, and Chris Kontos) will either keep the band name or call themselves "Dog Faced Gods"????

JM:
CHRIS IS NOT INVOLVED, HE HAS A NEW BAND THAT IS MORE ROCK ORIENTED. ERIC AND CHUCK ARE THE ONLY ONES STILL TOGETHER. FOR 3 MONTHS OR SO THEY USED THE NAME DOG FACED GODS BUT THEY RECENTLY DECIDED TO ONCE AGAIN USE THE NAME TESTAMENT.

MR:
Do you still stay in touch with them?

JM:
YES, EVERY DAY. I WAS JUST AT CHUCK'S HOUSE WORKING ON HIS COMPUTER FOR HIM (UPDATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE, INSTALLING APPLICATIONS, ETC.).

JM:
Was it somewhat of a bad-blood parting?

MR:
NOPE, NO BAD BLOOD BETWEEN ME AND THEM BUT GREG HAD SOME PROBLEMS AND A FIGHT WITH THEM ON THE DAY OF THE BREAK-UP.

MR:
Would you re-join with them if asked?

JM:
NO, I'VE MADE ALLOT OF PLANS AND COMMITMENTS DURING THE TIME OF THE SPLIT AND I'M AFRAID TO CANCEL THEM JUST TO RETURN TO TESTAMENT BECAUSE ERIC AND CHUCK COULD DECIDE TO THROW IN THE TOWEL AGAIN AT ANY TIME, LEAVING ME HIGH AND DRY ONCE AGAIN.
