GEOFF TATE – On his recovery from open-heart surgery: ‘I feel like in my late 30s or 40s now physically”

Spread the metal:

Geoff Tate is an American singer and songwriter. He rose to fame with the progressive metal band Queensrÿche, which enjoyed commercial success with their 1988 album OPERATION:MINDCRIME and 1990 album EMPIRE. After his farewell tour with Queensrÿche in 2012, Tate named his new band Operation: Mindcrime after the album of the same name. Since then, he has kept on releasing new albums occasionally. During the last six years or so, Tate has been performing under his own name, and he’s also been a guest vocalist on many successful projects, including Tobias Sammett’s Avantasia and Sweet Oblivia. We met Geoff in Helsinki just before his five-gig tour in Finland in March of 2023, and here’s a summary of our interesting chat, which topics include Tates’s current tour, his life before and after the pandemic, upcoming album releases, recent health issues, working with Avantasia and Sweet Oblivion, and much more. Check it out!
