Interview by Robert Cavuoto

This past March, Sabaton released their most powerful and ambitious album to date, The War To End All Wars, and now the band plans on taking North America by storm with The Tour To End All Tours – North America 2022. A 25-date trek that starts in Seattle, WA, on September 15th and runs until October 23rd, with the final show at the Hammerstein Ballroom, NY. Then in December 2022, Sabaton will head to Australia for a three-day festival only to reconquer Europe in 2023!
Sabaton is synonymous with power, precision, and perseverance. Throughout their 17+ year career, Sabaton have shaped, refined, and steadily broadened Swedish metal. They continue to power ahead through the changing musical landscape; trends be damned, and deliver incisively supercharged and energized music.
All of Sabaton’s albums feature grooves as deep as canyons with lyrical content, often expressing an awareness of the fragility of life and the importance of heroes. Their heavy-hitting anthems showcase this hard-working band’s undeniable talent. The band consists of Tommy Johansson [guitar], Pär Sundström [bass], Chris Rörland [guitar], Joakim Brodén [vocals], Hannes Van Dahl [drums]. I had the pleasure of speaking with bassist and band manager Pär Sundström for an in-depth discussion about the band’s upcoming North American tour, how he keeps himself satisfied with touring, what it’s like to play at a festival in front of 80,000 people, and how the band successfully overcame their 2012 line-up change.
