Quick Jabs for March 2022

Spread the metal:

Welcome to another installment of “Quick Jabs.” This is the section where we post an assortment of shorter reviews for albums that we have checked out or may have missed out on in previous months. Here we have a true version of Quick Jabs. The short month did get the best of me timewise, so my contributions to this section are minimal. At least I got a couple in! And they are good ones at that.

The Silent Wedding – Ego Path

February 11th, 2022 – Self-Release

Rating: 5.0 / 5.0

Reviewer: John Haseltine

The Silent Wedding is a melodic heavy metal band that was formed in 2008 and consists of Marios Karanastasis (Vocals), Jim Katsaros (Guitars & Samples), Giannis Thermos (Keyboards & Backing vocals), Giorgos Kritharis (Bass) and Renos Lialioutis (Drums & Percussion). They have released 3 LPs and an EP, receiving outstanding reviews from the press, blogs and radio stations around the world. This being my first encounter with The Silent Wedding, I must say I was surprised. Their brand of melodic heavy metal is accompanied by bits of progressiveness and touches of power metal. Yet, it is the melodicism of their music that is captivating. I really like these guys. I believe you will too!

Eyes Of The Living – Fear Comes Walking

February 25th, 2022 – Blood Blast Distribution

Rating: 5.0 / 5.0

Reviewer: John Haseltine

Pennsylvania based thrash metal band Eyes Of The Living are back with the follow-up to their 2018 release, WAR ON DEAD. Influenced by the current state of the world, their sophomore effort features some of the darkest, heaviest, and most unrelenting material to date for the band. Where the debut was more of one of those in-your-face sort of thrash albums, FEAR COMES WALKING, seems to be a step up from that. In regards to not only the production, but the sense that their style has been polished up a touch. Yes it is still thrash is essence, only now they have a much more commercial feel to them. Again, not in a bad way. Or a way that one would tend to steer away from. WAR ON DEAD was a stellar offering. I wondered how they could have topped it. I just got my answer! This is a band that now have two extremely well done albums to offer. Remember the name. It is one you will start hearing more about after FEAR COMES WALKING makes it’s rounds.
