Master Spy is a project based in Quebec, Canada. In mid-September it released its first work entitled THE TRAIN, an album with five awesome songs that give pure oxygen to the NWOTHM, through fresh ideas that achieve that difficult balance between tradition and innovation. One of its main publicity hooks is the appearance of guest musicians such as Roland Grapow and Impellitteri bassist James Puli, however, the songs shine by themselves.
Another excellent hook is the image they have managed to create. The album cover has a color palette that stands out a lot compared to the rest of the bands of its genre; also the appearance of someone similar to Mel Gibson gives it a very peculiar touch. As soon as we hear the first song called “The Policeman” we get totally hooked.
All the songs shine in every way; at the production level they were very well recorded, and at the composition level they are perfectly constructed, with various classic elements of the genre such as twin guitars, attractive riffs and excellent voice lines interpreted by Roman, a vocalist touched by the grace of God to have a voice almost identical to that of Bruce Dickinson.
THE TRAIN is an excellent debut album. It is yet another example of the enormous possibilities that communication offers today, because although Master Spy is based in Quebec, each of its members comes from different countries. It is because of the quality of his music that five songs are very few; however, the group has already anticipated a new EP that will include the participation of Blaze Bayley on voice. Due to the great work that the band has delivered with THE TRAIN, their next work is something that all fans of the genre should be very aware of.
