Interview by Robert Cavuoto
Multi-Gold and Platinum Swedish metal band Sabaton have embarked on a North America tour as the main support with Judas Priest. The 35-city trek started on September 8th in Reading, PA, in support of Priest’s “50 Years of Metal.” These shows will mark Sabaton’s first time sharing a stage with Judas Priest and a welcome return to North American from when they last toured here.
Pär Sundström [bass], Joakim Brodén [vocals], Tommy Johansson [guitar], Chris Rörland [guitar], and Hannes Van Dahl [drums] are known for their high-intensity, operatic heavy metal, juxtaposed with narratives that recount the harrowing yet epic tales of real-life historical battles and the brave men and women who fought in them. They have released several new singles from their upcoming CD which will be released when the world opens up.
After the Judas Priest tour in Spring 2022, Sabaton will bring its ground-breaking and breathtaking live shows to 26 cities in 17 European countries with “The Tour To End All Tours.” Their complete itinerary and ticket information can be found here www.sabaton.net/tour/
I spoke with Joakim Brodén about what it is like to tour with the mighty Priest, his perspective on being in the U.S. touring again, and what the band does to make a lasting impression on their U.S. fans.
