Late last year two bootleg cassette were unearthed of Weapon recorded during their support slot opening for Motörhead during their 1980 – 32 date ‘Ace Up Your Sleeve’ Tour. The first was recorded at Closton Hall, Bristol on November 10th and the second at Hammersmith Odeon on November 29th, the last night of the tour.
As you can imagine after laying around for 40 years the cassettes were a little delicate. We had one chance to digitise them and that was done here in Sweden by the talented Alex Bergdahl
Once digitised they files were handed over to another talented Swede, Erik Modin for mastering.
Although not professionally recorded, they are bootlegs after all, the quality is fairly good. It’s Weapon at the beginning of their career, warts and all! So with that in mind we plan to release the album, titled ‘No Peace ‘till Hammersmith’ on limited edition vinyl.
