Spread the metal:
Interview by Robert Cavuoto
Danish vocalist Ronnie Atkins of Pretty Maids and Nordic Union will be releasing his new solo album, One Shot, on March 12, 2021, via Frontiers Music.
After being diagnosed with Stage IV cancer which was incurable, Ronnie decided not to let his unfulfilled goals slip away. With the support of his family and true friends, he put the wheels in motion to create this solo CD utilizing a multitude of ideas on his iPhone, which he felt were too good not to see the light of day.
He connected with producer and Pretty Maids band-mate Chris Laney to take these ideas further by incorporating piano, guitar, and accompanying vocal. The result is a CD that rips with raw emotion, powerful guitar riffs, and incredible melodies from the first song to the last; eleven melodic hard rock tunes that will appeal to any music fan.
I had the pleasure of speaking to Ronnie about the significance of these eleven powerful songs, the importance of creating the CD as a form of therapy, why he feels Pretty Maids never broke in the US, and the biggest challenge the band ever faced.
