Michael Schenker will be releasing his newest masterpiece, Immortal, on January 21st via Nuclear Blast to celebrate his 40th anniversary as a solo artist and 50th anniversary of being a musician.
Immortal delivers precisely what you would expect from this legendary guitarist; crushing and memorable riffs, tastefully melodic solos, and soaring vocals by guest singers such as Joe Lynn Turner [Rainbow], Ronnie Romero [Rainbow], Ralf Scheepers [Primal Fear], and Michael Voss [Mad Max].
Songs like “Devil’s Daughter,” “Don’t Die on Me Know,” and the epic closer “In Search of the Peace of Mind” showcase Michael’s unbridled passion for rock and love of the guitar. Immortal continues to strengthen his title as one of the greatest guitar players of our time with his fierce fretboard wizardry, which has influenced an army of guitarists like Kirk Hammett, Randy Rhoads, Dimebag Darrell, and Richie Faulkner, to name just a few.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Michael to speak about the making of Immortal, his 50-year career as a guitarist, why there are no plans to release a career-spanning box set, and the creation of his first ever power ballad!
