Motorcycles, metal, and harmonicas! Oh My!
So when I thought I was listening to a newly released album by the multicultured Cynik Scald from Cyprus, I was wrong. It did take a little digging, but I got it all figured out now. I think. “Lullaby” is a new track just released as a single on November 27th, 2020. A couple of other songs come up as newly released singles this year, taken from 2019’s AGED SPIRIT album.
Cynik Scald seems to be a studio project with the members hailing from 5 different countries, from what I can gather. Genre-wise is where things can get a bit tricky. Cynik Scald has done a tremendous job covering most bases here. We are talking from straight-up heavy metal to Viking, groove, folk, and power to prog.
With Ivan being the principal lyricist, there is a mix of tracks sung in Russian and English. As an English speaking bloke, I enjoy the Russian sung tracks just as much as the English. And as I stated a couple of sentences ago, musically, AGED SPIRIT is aimed to please all and is a good listen. While cranking it now, it makes me want to up the rating a bit.
Comparatively speaking, this album will appease fans of Ghost, Lamb of God, Crematory, Grave Digger, and so many more. Head over to their Band Camo page to give them a listen for yourself. Cynik Scald, do not disappoint.
