It is always a pretty cool thing when I come across a new band that I genuinely enjoy listening to. One that can blend genres I am privy to, and blend said styles in a way that gets the blood pumping and the feet stomping.

Canada’s Raider does just that. Raider is a newer act out of Waterloo, Ontario, forming in 2017. GUARDIAN OF THE FIRE is the groups’ debut album, and it should not be taken lightly as these guys come out with all guns blazing with their ferocious brand of metal.

GUARDIAN OF THE FIRE is a non-stop hell-storm of pummeling death infused thrash. The album is full of technical riffing and some insanely powerful drumming. Raider has enough ability here to deliver up some of the best riffs in the business with a proficiency that many may possess, but rarely offer up to the masses.

Their sound on this release does harken back with an old-school vibe with regards to the music. But not as much with their style as Raider come off sounding as modern as ever. GUARDIAN OF THE FIRE is an album that is filled with beats and grooves that remind one of a battering ram set to full speed ahead.

Raider is a band to check out. Fans of Exodus, Lamb Of God, Exmortus, and Deicide, among others, will find that they are going to have another favorite band to slam to!
