The man, the myth, the legend Axel Rudi Pell is currently celebrating 30 years as a solo artist. ARP id actually more of a band then a solo act as the current members have been together for more than two decades. Nonetheless, we are graced by a new live album here once again celebrating their glorious career.

I’m not really a huge fan of ARP. I really like their music and I do own five actual CDs (3 of which I purchased) and now I have two downloads from reviewing purpose. I pop them in from time to time as they are very good and so is the band. Hmm, maybe I am a bigger fan than I thought.

With this one being a promo download, I do not get to see what is in the local record shops for the masses to devour. In the liner notes, Axel states “My front of house engineer Ralf had recorded some shows on the last tour without my knowledge. After the tour was over, he gave me a hard disc and said: Enjoy!” And that is what we get here.

It is apparent even to an untrained listener that this is not an over polished live album with added anything. It is uncut, unfiltered and unadulterated Axel Rudi Pell and Co. at their best. As always I’m sure as with any of the studio efforts I have listened to out of the 18 out there, ARP know nothing but how to be one of the best in the business.

You diehards out there already surely have this gem of a live album, which is one of the best overall I have listened to in a while. Just look at the track listing and should say it all. All of the players are simply stellar on this album and for me it is the first time hearing Johnny Gioeli’s vocals in a live setting. Again, stellar! He has an amazing rage and tone. One of the reasons I enjoy their music.
So there you have it. For ARP fans, a great new release of live material to hold you off until a tentative Spring 2020 studio release. And for the rest of you out there who may not be familiar, this is melodic metal / hard rock at its best and it is a great way to be introduced to Axel Rudi Pell. The band.
