Locotus is an Australian groove metal band that was formed back in 1998 at the height of genre. Since their inception, Locotus have put out four Eps and one Full-length album. I do believe if I read the info correctly, this would then make EP number five.

Due to the logistics of the current band members, Locotus is currently just a studio act with no immediate plans for touring as of late. This is something that founder Chris Fowler is working on as he also helms the marketing and business side of this project.

Sonically, Locotus immediately takes its marks from the likes of Slipknot, Soulfly, Mushroom Head and Machine Head to name a few. Almost too close at times which would tend to just make a band as such one of those that just “sounds too close to”, but in the same sense, listening to these few tracks is actually enjoyable.

The production is very well done and each track packs quite a punch to them. Some really heavy and crunchy riffs with a thunderous beat you can almost feel on the inside even at low volumes. The vocals are sort of hip-hop to Cavalera in nature. There are still a few of the originals putting out this brand of metal and they need to be aware that Locotus is nipping at their heals.
