Hailing from Pennsylvania here in the U.S.A. is the up and coming Dissentience. This is a band that, and I know I have said a time or two before, are a band to keep an eye on as they have a style and sound that should carry them a long way.
MASK OF PRETENSE is a shredder from start to finish. They serve up a blend of progressive death metal with the right amount of thrash influences to make you sit up and take notice. I found myself several times stopping and going, “Hmmm!” Not that they are a genre defying band, but what they do put together here is very well done and for the most part, stands on its own.
The more you listen to MASK OF PRETENSE the more you can grasp what they have to offer to the genre. The musicianship and playing style is top notch as these guys have the talent collectively to go a long way.
Check these guys out. They have a style similar to that of Arch Enemy, Lamb of God, Dark Tranquility, Hypocrisy, and Darkane to name a few. If they keep the momentum going, they can surely be mentioned right alongside of these acts. Good stuff!
Sean Langer – Bass, Vocals (backing)
