Hailing from South Australia, may I present to you Road Warrior. Yes, the band draws its name from the movie of the same name. It was badass, and they are hoping you feel the same about their music. After an almost cult like status surrounding the 2016 demo IGNITION, Road Warrior caught the attention of Gates Of Hell Records for the release of their powerful debut POWER.

The first time I ran through this one, I must admit that I was not all that impressed. Unless an album is a complete pile, it always gets several listens. Then it gets mixed into the fold of all my favorites in order to see if it works within my playlists. And though POWER didn’t seem to have the power that it was hyped to have at first, it is a style that has grown on me the past 3 or 4 weeks.

Denimal Blake, who is most notably known for his black/death band Cauldron Black Ram and avant-garde band StarGazer, has large amounts of heavy metal coursing through his veins. Hence the more traditional, old-school sound presented here. It is fairly basic but to the point heavy metal.

There is nothing over the top going on with POWER. Yet Road Warrior’s sound can be distinguished from the pack. It is a somewhat unique sound and style, while it has been done a thousand times before; Road Warrior gives another avenue to bang to. Your head that is! Or whatever.
