Gates Of Hell Records is proud to present the reissue on vinyl the sold-out and highly sought after Ep by Chevalier. This is my first introduction to the band, as what may be for many others as well.

Chevalier formed in 2016 in Finland and have been creating quite a buzz in their homeland ever since. Their brand of raw a gritty speed metal is not only a revisit to the days of ole, but a fresh offer that not too many bands can pull off.

I don’t want to say that this is something old-school. That is a term that gets used too often with me being one who does it too. But Chevalier’s sound is reminiscent of what it was about with ‘speed metal’ early on that made me get into some of the not necessarily heavy sounding music, but faster. When speed metal was an up and coming genre.

This is a slightly thrashing yet full on speed metal creation which journeys a bit into moments of melody to help round out the lyrical content that touches on such topics in the fantasy and sci-fi realms. This is a superb introduction to the band. The reissue here also included the exclusive cover of Brocas Helm’s Fly High.

Their style and sound is closely related to and should appeal to fans of Mercyful Fate, Liege Lord, Mania, ADX, Hell, and Legionnaire. Good stuff!
