From hard rock to power metal to speed metal and all points in between, the legendary Riot V (A.K.A. Riot) are back with pure metal ecstasy. These classic American metallers are what some can say at the top of their game. With one listen to their latest ARMOR OF LIGHT, you’ll know what I’m saying.

Be the 2nd release for Riot V, or the 16th for Riot, these guys have been one of the most innovative and longest running American heavy metal institution. Originally formed in what, 1977?, and still running strong putting out some very powerful metal music.

I’ve been rolling through this one for a couple weeks now. I must say it didn’t take but the first listen to become attached to me and seems to get even better with each run through. Be it the ultra-fast chord progressions, almost constant double-bass drums, the over-the top guitar work, or simply the fact that the choruses are catchy as hell, there does not seem to be a track that has any fault to it at all.

The soaring vocals of Todd Michael Hall are as mesmerizing as any in the industry. With that in mind, be careful as you sing along. It hurts! All kidding aside, Riot V have followed up 2014’s UNLEASH THE FIRE with sheer succession. For any band with the longevity of Riot who can still produce such a flawless anthem as this needs to be a bit more recognized.

With ARMOR OF LIGHT, Riot V are basically stating, “Suck this!” We are still here going strong with no signs of letting up. For those of you who may not know the legendary Riot, it is now Riot V and they are a band to watch out for. If you don’t believe me, check out the video here and you too will be hooked!
