The end of June brought with it the 8th annual edition of the Copenhell festival, taking place just outside Copenhagen. The festival was, as always, held at the old shipping grounds at the outskirts of Denmark’s Capital from Thursday to Saturday. Early announced acts for this year’s festival included System Of A Down, Rob Zombie, Europe, and Opeth. The camping tickets were released last Fall and just as last year it was also possible to purchase single day tickets. In February the festival announced the last names which included Slayer, Alter Bridge, Powerwolf, and Black Star Riders to mention a few. The three day tickets sold out pretty fast and at the end of May 90% of all the tickets were sold out.
The festival did eventually sell out and broke last year’s attendance record (20,000 people) by taking in 23 000 people. As usual, the festival’s main sponsors are the HiFi club, Royal Beer, and Jägermeister. If you’re interested in reading more about the background about the festival then check out our previous reviews of the event. Besides music, the festival also offers food, metal karaoke, a metal market, a viking village, tattoo festival, and the Danish championship in destroying cars etc. In other words there are plenty of ways to kill time with waiting for your favorite band to go on stage.
