SLAYER FAN THROWS A HAIL MARY… AND SLAYER RESPONDS

It appears an old life maxim has just been re-written.  Good things come to those who spill their creative guts, not those who wait.

Example: Los Angeles-based SLAYER fan Jake. In a truly ingenious effort to raise money for SLAYER tickets by offering to sell his 1997 Ford Escort LX, Jake and his friends filmed a spoof of Lincoln’s recent Matthew McConaughey commercial and released it on YouTube on Monday.

Today, three days and over 61,000 views later, SLAYER’s Tom Araya took time off from his studio sessions to respond toJake’s Hail Mary throw.

Watch Tom’s video response on SLAYER’s official YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=T94uaZfyxG0&feature=youtu.be.

Scion, sponsor of SLAYER’s U.S. fall tour with SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and EXODUS, has given fans an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at SLAYER’s time recording an exclusive track at Henson Recording Studios, Tom’s visit to ESP Guitars, and Kerry King‘s personal reptile collection.

A Twitter-based giveaway for SLAYER tickets for select dates is now underway and runs through December 6th.  Entries should be submitted through twitter.com/scionav.  Complete rules available at www.scionav.com/2014/10/27/scion-x-slayer-tour-ticket-giveaway-enter-now.

Designed by SLAYER, a project car featuring excessive speaker power will be unveiled at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade event in November.

About SLAYER:

The Chicago Tribune‘s Greg Kot wrote that the five-time-nominated, two-time Grammy winning SLAYER  is “one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre.”  Their membership in “The Big Four” – Metallica, SLAYER, Megadeth and Anthrax – the four bands that defined the thrash/metal genre – secures their place in music history.  Indeed, few bands come close to matching the intensity that SLAYER brings to its live shows, having been named “Best Live Band” by numerous media outlets including RevolverSPIN, and Metal Hammer.  With songs that mirror the turmoil and aberrations of our society – God’s terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, chemical warfare, the hideous minds of serial killers, and the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, SLAYER remains crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the Mainstream.  SLAYER’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in since.  The band is currently in the studio recording a new album set for an early 2015 release.
