2012, Eagle Vision
Rating: 4.5/5

Another stellar Live Queen release from Eagle Rock Ent. Filmed back in 1986 this show has been restored with the utmost care. The DTS-HD soundtrack is extremely well done as a concert film should be. The mix has perfect separation and nothing is too loud or buried. The video is equally as good and the colors just pop from the screen. It is not quite as clear as some concerts filmed today with IMAX and HD cameras but this stands up against many and is possibly the best Queen one released thus far.

The concert itself is loaded with newer Queen songs as well as earlier catalog hits. A fantastic mixture so there is something for everyone. These newer songs at the time have now joined the ranks of Classic Queen. As with every Queen concert released the band’s energy is at it’s max and Freddie is the quintessential showman. He knows how to work a crowd and many of today’s frontmen have learned from him. Equally as amazing is Brian May. His distinct guitar sound has also influenced many of today’s players and this concert clearly shows why. His playing is flawless throughout. A true musician of the highest caliber.

The only negative aspect to this release is that there are a few interruptions into the concert that show the band around Budapest or interview clips. This is a distraction from the concert experience. It would have been nice to have the full concert uninterrupted with the clips as a Bonus Feature. A minor complaint.
