A few years back WE WISH YOU A METAL XMAS was released to rave reviews by the Metal community as it featured some of the greats performing your favorite holiday songs. Performances include such greats as Lemmy and the late Ronnie James Dio. This year this collection get re-issued with a bonus 4 song disc. As this title has been previously covered we will concentrate only on the bonus CD.

Kicking off the Bonus Disc is “ O’ Christmas Tree” sung by Doro Pesch. How could this be bad? Doro does an excellent job as her voice is suited to songs like these as well as the Metal she is known for. As you’d expect she kicks it up a bit from the traditional version that we all grew up hearing. This is easily the highlight of the bonus disc and one of the better tracks in the overall package.
Girlschool is up next with their rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” and like Doro, they too have kicked it up a bit making for a heavier and more Metal sounding song.
Lips from Anvil gives us “Frosty The Snowman and he is accompanied on guitar by Bumblefoot making this one of the heaviest songs out of the four included here. Naturally it is very Anvil sounding.
The disc concludes with a star studded lineup of Doug Aldrich, Blasko and John Tempesta with Dez Fafaka on vocals. Musically the song is killer and couldn’t sound better BUT the Cookie Monster vocals totally ruin it. This could have been the greatest Xmas song but it wasn’t meant to be thanks to the chosen vocal style.

All in all a solid bonus disc that makes the set worth re-buying IF found at a good price, if not then head to iTunes and BUY the songs.
