Japanese Thrash Metal Pioneers, SACRIFICE’s ‘Crest Of Black’ to be released on CD for the first time

Spread the metal:
Sacrifice '87 - Japan
Sacrifice '87 - Japan: L to R: Akira Sugiuchi (vocals), Kazuo Nonaka (guitar), Takashi Yazaki (bass), Masanori Kawakami (drums)

Still cited as influences by the younger generations (you can find Joel Grind of TOXIC HOLOCAUST having this album pictured on his MySpace!), this masterpiece of Japanese Heavy Metal by SACRIFICE will finally be available on CD for the first time in July. “Crest Of Black” was originally released in 1987 on Explosion Records, then home for bands like SABBRABELLS, DOOM and JURASSIC JADE, for a limited quantity of 1000 copies. Since then, it’s been a highly sought-after item for metalheads all over the world. Some of the music can be heard on the band’s unofficial MySpace site.

This long-awaited official reissue will also feature two bonus tracks, taken from the band’s self-released demo from 1986. Distribution outside of Japan of this SACRIFICE CD will be helped by SPIRITUAL BEAST.

The founder and singer Akira Sugiuchi is still in the singing business, fronting SOLITUDE who has released a new album “Brave the Storm” earlier this year. Check them out on their MySpace

Formed by Akira Sugiuchi following the demise of BLOODLUST around the middle of 80’s, SACRIFICE was one of the forerunners of Japanese Thrash Metal scene. Their NWOBHM-inspired fast and ultra-heavy songs, along with the character that represented the band, won a lot of following throughout their career and continue to do so to this day. Their later lineup included current SOLITUDE bass player Toru Nishida, and Shinji “Samm” Tachi of SABBAT, METALUCIFER, MAGNESIUM etc. on drums. The band shared the stage with SODOM and NUCLEAR ASSAULT, among others.
