Necromantia is one of the most respected black metal acts around and have been in the business for 18 years now. They are also one of the leading acts in the southern parts of Europe along with their countrymates Rotting Christ. The band is a duo, both members playing 8-string bass instead of guitar. Despite their many years in the industry, they haven’t released many albums. This is their seventh album to date and follows up to their 2002 release 12 YEARS DOING THE DEVILS WORK.
Necromantia’s music is brutal, aggressive and mean black metal with calmer parts here and there. Unfortunately, nothing much really happens on the album. The songs drone on and on in the same pattern and many of them sound very alike. Variation is absent; even though I’m a fan of black metal I don’t have much patience with Necromantia’s version of black metal.
Lead singer Magus has problems getting out his words and the 8 songs go on forever. THE SOUND OF LUCIFER STROMING HEAVEN is bad, boring, and doesn’t interest me the slightest. I don’t have anything positive to say about Necromantia’s long-awaited album; maybe previous fans will buy it, but they’re not gonna win any new fans with this crappy album.
