The Swedish keyboard player Claes Corin has been working on this album since the 80’s due to his day job. It wasn’t until the beginning of 2000 that he could fully focus on this album, which was recorded at the end of 2004. Corin landed a record deal two years later and it could finally be released. The second part of this duo may not need any further introduction; the very well-known and talented Göran Edman is one of the best voices in < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Europe today without a doubt.

ROC DE LIGHT is an album with a different kind of music that isn’t all that popular today: pop-oriented west-coast rock. Even though I was a bit reluctant about the music at the beginning, it didn’t take long before Edman’s magical voice convinced me that this was pretty good. He’s truly a magical singer that takes the songs to a higher level. The music has similarities with Toto and Chicago, if that gives you a better idea of what I’m talking about.

Even though Edman takes the album up a notch, he can’t save it by himself. The material is sometimes not that good and a few songs are simply boring. They sometimes blend together, making it hard to separate them from each other. It also wouldn’t have hurt to add a few faster tracks.

ROC DE LIGHT isn’t at all bad, but here and there it has it downsides. It’s an album for hardcore west-coast rock fans or fans of Edman. For me it’s too popish but a great album to relax to and to use as background music when you do something else.

Claes Corin – keyboards

Göran Edman – lead vocals
