The Dutch metal band Vengeance is back in the ring again. The band has been in the business for a really long time – since 1984 as a matter of fact. The simplest description of Vengeance’s music is 80’s heavy metal and musical parallels can be drawn with AC/DC.

Almost every one of the 11 tracks are really catchy, with a lot of tempo changes and everything that defines 80’s heavy metal. This album’s weakest link is the ballads. They’re called “Captain Moonlight” and “Now and Then”, and could have easily been put aside. Otherwise is the album jammed with good old heavy metal songs like “Back In The Ring”, “Mind Over Matter”, “Bad Attitude”, “Had Enough”, “Cowboy Song”, and “Rip It Off”. Guest-artist and producer Michael Voss made a powerful production for a real powerful album.

I haven’t got much more to say about this album. Buy it if you’re a fan of 80’s heavy metal. BACK IN THE RING has been played in my stereo a number of times and I’m not tired of it yet and that’s a good sign. I give it the rating it deserves because it’s almost a jackpot.
