Ministry – Rantology

Spread the metal:

2005, Sanctuary Records
Rating: 3/5

My first exposure to Ministry was back in high school and the video for “Stigmata” was on TV. Other than that one song I never knew they existed. Once I heard “Jesus Built My Hotrod” I decided to check out a couple of their releases.

RANTOLOGY is a full on Ministry collection for the fans. It features live material, remixes and rarities. All material found on this release was hand picked by Jourgensen himself. He even handled the remix and remaster himself; dedication to the music and fans. This is a collection for fans to rant and rave about.

It is great hearing the new track “ The Great Satan” alongside such jems as “Stigmata” and “Jesus Built My Hotrod”. Re-mixes are OK if you are a die hard fan or likr that sort of thing. It’s really a personal preference and one I’d prefer to do without. An anthology or collection of a bands hits or most popular tracks should be just that..the album cuts. The live cuts “Psalm 69” and “Thieves” showcase the energy that the band puts into their shows.

Despite a few issues with this collection so to speak it still remains a good starting point. The song selection is great and the quality is top notch. A definite for fans of this great band.
