I like Greatest Hits packages. I always find it easier to grab one CD full of band’s better material, and with this disc you can’t go wrong. Queensryche always knew how to write a great song and they finally get their due with a best-of collection. Selecting a few songs from each album in order that it came out, this package represents their ride to the top of the charts. Starting with “Queen of The Ryche” and “The Lady Wore Black” from their debut EP through Sign of The Times off of Hear In The Now Frontier, you can see how the band’s songwriting progressed. In between there are what I would consider to be their finest songs. “Walk In The Shadows”, “Empire”, “Eyes of A Stranger” and their biggest hit “Silent Lucidity” are what best represented Queensryche. Even though the last two albums weren’t multi-platinum smashes, the writing was still excellent. They added two bonus tracks from their Japanese releases that add the icing on the cake. The liner notes and overall packaging are done well. Pick it up if you can.
