To be honest, when I read what this book was about I didn\’t know what to expect. I\’ve never read a book in the genre of \”metal fiction.\” This is in fact the only book that I\’ve heard of that fits into the genre.
This book is a mystery that will keep you wondering who did it right up till the end. It\’s also the type of book that once you get into it you don\’t want to put it down until it\’s finished!! What sets this apart from all the other mysteries out there is that the storyline takes place against the backdrop of the metal scene. The characters in this book are well developed and are metalheads. These aren\’t your looser rap-metal fans, these are the real deal metalheads, the kind that I can relate to. I think one sign that an author has succeeded in telling a story is when you relate to and care about the characters – even though they are not \”real\” people. Without giving away any crucial plot secrets this is a story about a group of metalheads who undergo a crisis that begins with a church being burnt down. The obvious culprit seems to be a black metal fan but other shit starts happening…stuff that could possibly even happen under the right circumstances. You\’ll be doing a lot of \”what if?\” kind of thinking while reading this story. If you read the book then I\’m sure you\’ll appreciate the comic relief provided by the tragic character of Jonas! His \”holy sock\” is disgustingly hilarious! I\’ll leave it up to you to discover what that is when you read the book!
Although this is author Michael De Los Muertos first published work, this is not an amateur written book! He obviously is a talented, knowledgeable metalhead who has his head and heart in the right place. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good page-turner, a mystery that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat until the closing.
