Finally, former Soundgarden vocalist’s solo project sees the light of day, and it’s definitely a listening piece, rather than a disc that rocks. At first listen, I’ll admit, I was disappointed, as there’s no “Jesus Christ Pose” or “Hand’s All Over” to be found anywhere on this disc. But after a few listens it has grown on me. Cornell still has an amazing voice, and it still shines all over this disc. However, the power and intensity of his voice isn’t pushed as often as I’d like. First single, the Betalesque – “Cant change Me”, is a good indication of the make-up of this disc, while tracks “Follow my way” and “Pillow of Your Bones” could have very well fit on the last Soundgarden album. Overall, a very self-indulgent album which grows with repeated listens.
