Wondering who in the hell Arch Enemy are?? Well I’m sure you all know who Carcass are…right? If not well you’re shit outta luck, and I pity you. To make a long story short Carcass broke-up. The lead vocalist formed a new band called Blackstar which was a watered down version of Carcass – not all that impressive. Michael Amott (former Carcass lead guitarist) on the other hand has continued on in the Carcass stream in the most awesome band Arch Enemy.

Michael Amott should be hailed as the guitar god that he is…in many respects he is the Yngwie of melodic death metal. He shreds, sweeps and has enough melody to make it all the more interesting. This CD is full of amazing guitar work and here’s the big surprise Michael is joined by brother Christopher Amott (ex-Armageddon) on second lead!!

I think the reason why this CD is so great is that it has re-captured the Carcass Heartwork sound and feel while at the same time incorporating more melody and even some power metal sounds. What better mix of metal could one ask for…thrash/death/power metal fused together into the collective whole known as Arch Enemy.

But hey you don’t have to take my word for it…the proof is in the music. Believe me if you’re a fan of Carcass be prepared to have a huge grin on your face when you hear this stuff.
