Avatar – Vocalist Johannes Eckerström
By Kirsty Birkett-Stubbs
Leading a merry dance between melody-strong structure and darker vocals, rather than crushing
Toes, Avatar’s Black Waltz has all the right moves. Getting beneath the album psyche vocalist Johannes Eckerström tells how only a little coaxing was required to bring out the shady side...

My Ruin @ Scala, Kings Cross, London
21st January 2012
Review by Alan Hicks
The music industry is well known to be a minefield for bands, many splitting at any one of the many obstacles that confront an act on its journey from local pubs to larger venues.
Some artists seem to have the proverbial kitchen sink thrown at them and My Ruin have definitely had their fare share of problems, the latest being a record label promising the earth but delivering less than nothing.
My Ruin and front woman Tairrie B in particular are made of sterner stuff than most though, meaning they climb back on the saddle and try even harder, which is good news for us on this particular night, the second date of a UK tour.

Sabaton Interview with vocalist Joakim Brodén, Keyboardist Daniel Mÿhr, Guitarist Oskar Montelius
By Carlos M. Llanas
Sabaton is amongst the most intriguing and promising power metal bands around. They travel a different path than your normal "Slaying Dragons, fucking wenches, and drinking beer" power metal band. That's what sets them aside from the "norm". Let's face it...have any of you ever seen a fucking dragon? I didn't think so. They take a more realistic approach to the music...and that approach is war, perseverance, nations under turmoil, and the remembrance of a fallen soldier. From the Cliffs of Gallipoli, to the skies of the isles, Sabaton covers it all with remarkable accuracy, outstanding musicianship, and one hell of a live show to boot. I had a chance to talk to the friendly Swedes about their plans for the future, their race against time, their first headlining show in the U.S, Pär Sundström's health, and their temporary replacement Emil Wigelius. Here is what they had to say!

MICHAEL MONROE
CLUB NOSTURI, HELSINKI
31'st of December 2011
REVIEW AND PHOTOS BY MARKO SYRJALA
2011 was definitely a great year for Michael Monroe. The new album SENRORE OVERDRIVE was a critical and commercial success and Monroe won several prizes from the media including the album of the year award from the valued Classic Rock magazine as well as the band of the year title from Finnish Emma gala. Monroe’s great year ended up with two sold out nights in Helsinki’s Club Nosturi before leaving for a well-earned three month break.
