Jim Peterik

Above The Storm

2006, Frontiers Records

Rating: 3.5/5

Rock and Roll veteran Jim Peterik returns with another disc of melodic rock. Having been in such high profile bands as Survivor and the Ides of March during his lengthily career, Jim  has made an impact on the music world.

There is a bit of diversity on this disc with everything from soulful ballads to outright rockers like “Hiding From Yourself”. With such diversity on the album the constant remains Jim’s remarkable voice. He has one of the strongest voice’s out there and it is quite evident here. His powerful delivery on the southern tinged track “Midnight in My Soul” really demonstrates this.

An admirable collection of melodic music although not overtly original at times. Musically and vocally it is well above par.
