Best of 2011 - Marko Syrjala
Top 20
1.) MICHAEL MONROE: Sensory Overdrive
The album of the year goes to Mr. Monroe who now released his strongest album to date. Everything works great on SENSORY OVERDRIVE: the songs, production, playing etc. This album is easily one of the best releases of its genre in years and it’s great that Monroe finally got some respect for his hard work!
2.) SAXON: Call To Arms
These NWOBHM veterans have done their best release since 2001 album KILLING GROUND. The new album is full of excellent heavy metal songs like “Hammer of the Gods”, “Call to Arms” and “Chasing the Bullet”. There’s no end in sight for Saxon for a long time!!
3.) ANTHRAX: Worship Music
Finally this album came out. It’s been eight years since the excellent WE’VE FOR YOU ALL was released so it was about time after all those problems and changes what the band has lived through since then. Returning vocalist Joey Belladonna sounds as good as ever and overall the album is nothing but a great metal album.

5.) WHITESNAKE: Forevermore
6.) MEGADETH: Thirt3en
7.) NIGHTWISH: Imaginaerum

CONCERT OF THE YEAR
1. SWEDENROCK FESTIVAL
Once again here’s the same winner in my list but what can you do when you have a line up with: Buckcherry, Duff McGagan, Ozzy Osbourne, Queensryche, Joan Jett, The Cult, Morbid Angel, Judas Priest, FM, Iced Earth, Mr.Big, Down ,Stryper, Rob Zombie. Accept, Saxon, Helloween, Whitesnake etc. etc.
2. CINDERELLA: THE 25’TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR
This was something what we European fans have been waiting like forever: Cinderella doing a headline tour in over here! A great evening with Best Of -set list, great playing etc… A true nostalgia event!

Strong proof that there's life after Matt Barlow departure
DISAPPOINMENTS OF THE YEAR
1. Metallica fiasco!!
This one was so bad that I'm not even try to say any more here...
2. Alice Cooper: Welcome 2 My Nightmare
I really wanted to to be the number one album of the year but.... after all this was a really disappointing album. The return of producer Bob Ezrin and the old band mates didn't help enough and as as a result, here we have Alice's weakest album in 30 years.
3. Queensryche: Dedicated To Chaos
This is a strange band for me . Although they havent released a decent album in twenty years, I always give them "another change" but maybe after this totally useless and blend album I finally gave up?
4. Also, there's one major disappointment there, which is the surrent state of global aconomy. There are already many great metal festivals going to shut down (like Sauna Open Air) so we'll see how this is going to continue from now on? Only the strong will survive?
GREATEST HOPES FOR 2012
1. KISS: Monster - album and world tour!!
Hopefully this is going to be a MONSTER in every level!
2. BLACK SABBATH RE-UNION
Well, everybody keeps their fingers grossed for this !!
3. VAN HALEN
It's now or never?
