Eagle Rock Entertainment start off the new decade with a bang. This concert of Status Quo’s 2009 performance at the infamous Montreux Jazz Festival features over 20 songs from their 40 year career.
It wasn’t until last year when I heard IN SEARCH OF THE FOURTH CHORD that I actually took notice of Status Quo. Over the years I have heard the name but never sought out their music or looked into them. Once I heard the IN SEARCH OF THE FOURTH CHORD all that changed and I immediately ordered myself a compilation of their music (entitled PICTURES as well) to get a taste of their past. Now with the release of this stunning new concert I am more of a fan.
Filmed last July (2009), this amazing HD concert has something for everyone. There are selections from early Quo such as “Pictures Of Matchstick Men” to newer songs like “Beginning Of The End” off of IN SEARCH OF THE FOURTH CHORD. The band is good and tight and deliver an excellent performance. It is as though a breath of life has been given to the songs as they sound much more alive here than the studio versions. While the members of the band are getting up there they prove that the music is ageless and they can out play some of the younger acts out there today.
Coupled with the PICTURES compilation CD set you will be ready to explore the vast catalog of Status Quo. This is just the beginning for this new fan and once you purchase these titles you will agree.
