George Thorogood & The Destroyers
The Dirty Dozen

2009, Capitol Records
Rating: 4.5/5

THE DIRTY DOZEN is a uniquely familiar album from George Thorogood in the way that half of it is comprised of six brand new songs with the old familiar sound while the other six are fan favourites. Half of these fan favourites were currently out of print here in North America until now.

The first six tracks (or Side A if you will) have that signature Thorogood guitar sound. The instant you hear it you know straight away who it is. This sound has served him well in his lengthily career so why change a good thing? The new songs like “Tail Dragger” and “Born Lover” are sure to become live staples in his set list. The song “Twenty Dollar Gig” is another of these songs and most all musicians can relate to it’s true to life lyrics.

In the past 30 + years George has released album after album and fans the world over have gobbled them up, and THE DIRTY DOZEN will be no exception. With a new Thorogood disc you know what you are getting, pure gritty rock n’ roll, the way it was meant to be.
