Still Dangerous

2009, VH1 Classic
Rating: 4/5

Philadelphia in 1977 is where this appropriately named disc was recorded. The recently discovered ‘Philadelphia 2’ tape was discovered and preserved and now issued as a great companion piece to their widely praised LIVE AND DANGEROUS album. LIVE AND DANGEROUS has been heralded as one of the greatest live rock albums of all times so it is no wonder that this newly discovered show be named STILL DANGEROUS.

The late Phil Lynott was a unique soul who’s voice and music is instantly recognizable the world over. On this record several Lizzy staples are performed such as “Jailbreak” and “The Boys Are Back In Town”. There are a pair of songs that appear on this show that were not on the LIVE AND DANGEROUS LP. These couple of songs are “Soldier of Fortune” and “Opium Trail” which make this a must own for Lizzy fans. Hearing Phil and company perform the songs live just adds in a bit of fresh air to the tunes.

This is the perfect companion piece to LIVE AND DANGEROUS and it should be in every rock fan’s collection.
