Captured during their peak in 1986, this DVD showcases Talk Talk’s only performance at the infamous Montreux Jazz Festival. It was at this time that they were out on tour to support their THE COLOR OF SPRING album.

An essential DVD for any and all fans of Talk Talk as this was filmed at their height and unknown at the time to become their last tour. The band seems to be quite into the songs despite singer Mark Hollis’ lake of real stage presence. Mark chooses to stand in one spot clutching the mic and hiding behind his dark shades. He does however sing the songs with allot of emotion and looks like he’s right into a zone but a little more movement would add dramatically to the concert. The percussion and keyboards are very prominent as you’d expect from a mid 80’s act like Talk Talk. Performances such as “Such A Shame” with it’s rocking acoustic guitar and “It’s My Life” show that even a pop/new wave act can rock out with the best of them at times. Ending off on a more mellow note is the hit “Renee” where you see the place light up with cigarette lighters. This is the most emotional and heartfelt performance on the disc. It is as if the lyrics have a deep personal meaning to Mark.

A fine performance music wise but it lacks in visual interest.
