Jethro Tull; The band that won the first ever Heavy Metal Grammy award back in ’89 release their 2003 performance at the Montreux Jazz festival. While not a jazz act, they do incorporate some jazz elements into their music.

The very first thing you will notice as soon as you put on this disc is the clarity of the picture. Never before has a Jethro Tull show looked so good outside the real thing. The second thing you may notice is that every song is introduced by Anderson with a little story or antidote. At times throughout the show you will see Anderson going around the stage with his trusty flute looking like the pied piper gone mad. This is really prominent at the end of “Bouree” where he just lets loose. They pick up the tempo a bit with “Hunting Girl” which is a pretty rocking number. This is followed up by “Eurology” complete with the instrument from Hell. Also included here are a couple of Xmas numbers as well as the infamous title track from the AQUALUNG LP. An almost perfect setlist from this iconic group. Ian’s stage presence is highly enigmatic and slightly amusing to watch at times.

Overall an excellent performance from Tull that is sure to please any and all music fans. Even if you are not already a fan of the band after seeing this concert you may very well become one.
