Amanda Palmer

Who Killed…

2008, Roadrunner Records

Rating: 2.5/5

This is it: the debut solo album from Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls. A quirky little concept album that has been broken down into 2 acts. The music on Act 1 is quiet and slow and quite similar to a slow Cure track. Act 2 starts off by kicking it up slightly with “Guitar Hero” which gives the listener a sense of false hope that the album may turn out to be a bit more upbeat but it doesn’t. The remainder of the CD is more of the quiet and mellow compositions especially “What’s The Use of Wond’rin’” which sounds like a child’s lullaby complete with the music box sound. This is followed up by “Oasis” which has some nice Beach Boys styled harmonies in it.

A very different album to say the least. An extremely laid back concept album if you will.
