Bring It

2008, Kivel Records

Rating: 4.5/5

Canada’s own Damon Kelly returns with a fantastic follow-up to his stellar self titled debut. There are a dozen tracks on BRING IT including newly recorded versions of a couple songs from the aforementioned debut. This is what Melodic Rock is all about.

Damon’s smooth voice and bluesy guitar rhythms set him apart from allot of others but familiar enough as not to alienate him from the pact. On this sophomore effort Kelly is joined by Pete Fry on lead guitar who really makes a statement with some killer guitar solo’s. From the opening note of “Bad June” to the end of the “Same Ol Song” your ears are in for an aural delight. The song “Get Me Out Of This Hole” has some great vocals and catchy melodies. It starts out mellow then really kicks in with some cool riffs and then slowly builds up. Another real great track on the album is “Let’s Go” with its AC/DC-esque beginning note’s. By the time the vocal’s start the song has no AC/DC influence left just pure rock with an 80’s Rock groove, new style.

Cool riffs, killer solo’s, great production, amazing vocals make this the best Melodic Rock disc to blast through your speakers this year.
