Interview By Lord of The Wasteland

Transcription by Duke

***Pics courtesy of Metal Blade Records, Roadrunner Records, King's official site & Metal Rules staff.

One of the great things about this job is getting to speak with the legends of heavy metal.  Despite being online for ten years, Metal Rules has never spoken to King Diamond himself (a conversation with guitarists Mike Wead and Andy LaRocque was done in 2001 and may be read here), so when the opportunity came up, I was on it like flies on stink.

Calling from his home in Texas, King is a dream interview subject as he loves to talk and is also one of the nicest guys in metal today.  I could have spent hours and hours talking to him but during the course of our 50-minute conversation, King discusses his latest offering, DEADLY LULLABYES LIVE, new stuff from Mercyful Fate in 2005, the possibility of turning to movies, and loads of other things, so sit back and enjoy this interview with the one, the only…KING DIAMOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interview with Manntis Vocalist Jake Sirokman

***Interview By Lord of The Wasteland

***Photos coutesy of Century Media Records and Manntis.com

The latest golden boys of Century Media Records are Riverside, California’s Manntis and deservedly so.  Packing a lethal dose of aggression behind a guitar tandem that isn’t afraid to lay down some serious solos and riffs, Manntis’ debut album, SLEEP IN YOUR GRAVE, was just released on June 28th, 2005 and is sure to be a staple of many year-end favorite lists.  The band first struck a chord during the summer of 2004 as they participated in MTV’s THE BATTLE FOR OZZFEST program with the winner landing a coveted spot on Ozzfest 2005.  Although Manntis came in third (out of thousands of bands), the track they recorded for the competition—“The End’s Where It Begins”—is an integral piece of SLEEP IN YOUR GRAVE, showing the band’s diversity and dynamic nature.

I recently conducted an interview with Manntis vocalist Jake Sirokman (AKA “Jake Daniel’s”) and he tells his side of being reality show stars, landing a major indie label deal and specific instructions on how to play “beer pong.”

709 Metal Fest II

Misery Index with Entropy and Cyprian.
Bar Show @ Junctions / May 10th, 2005

Live Review by EvilG / Pictures by Rick

It’s not often that a metal band from away travels to the most eastern point in North America, St. John’s. The last metal bands that made the trek here were Helix, and thrash legends Infernal Majesty. This May at the “709 Metal Fest” (709 is the telephone area code for the province) we were treated to a death metal assault all the way from Maryland, USA – MISERY INDEX

Jocke from Hellfueled

Interviewed & Pictues by Anders Sandvall
Thanks to Ulrika Henriksson for help with the transcription of this interview.
Thanks to Sound Pollution for providing promopics for the interview.
Finally, a big thanks to Hobbe at Sound Pollution for setting up the interview.

I met up with Jocke from Hellfueled when they were support act to Mustasch in Malmö a few weeks ago. Hellfueled released their debut album VOLUME ONE last year and have also released an EP called MIDNIGHT LADY. I had a chat with Jocke and asked him about the band (who are a pretty new act to the public here in Sweden), about the album, the tour, etc. A longer interview with the band will be coming later this year when they release their new album.

Zinny Zan of the Swedish band Zan Clan
Interviewed by Anders Sandvall
Thanks to the band for supplying me with promo pics.
Thanks to Robert at GMR Music Group for setting up the interview.

Zinny Zan is one of the inventors and founders of the Swedish glam/sleaze genre. He has recently released a new album with his friends in Zan Clan so its the perfect time to ask this legend some questions about his long career in acts like Easy Action, Shotgun Messiah, and of course his new album and the band Zan Clan.

Keep It True IV
Review and Pics by Blackgoat & Skyklad

Friday April 1st
Warm Up "Fist Held High"
Dittigheim "Sporthalle"

For the fourth time in not even 2 years Skyklad and I went on this pilgrimage of Metal. Our trip from Regensburg to Tauberbischofsheim (a 2 hour drive) went surprisingly uneventful thanks to a quick trip to the FIAT dealer the day before where I had the loose muffler of my car welded. It would've been a disaster losing that on the motorway and most definetly more expensive than the 3 EUR I had to pay there. Saved us a lot of money for the impending Metal Market.
