Book of Black Earth
Interview with Joe Axler (drums) and TJ Cowgill (Guitar/Vocals)
by Monika Deviat

Book of Black Earth from Seattle have just recently released their third full length album, “The Cold Testament”. The follow up to “Horoskopus” (2008) is quite different from the bands previous work but fans and critics are giving the new album great reviews. The death metallers have been through a few line up changes since the band’s inception in 2003 and “The Cold Testament” is the band’s first endeavor without a keyboardist. The sound on the new album is darker and harsher and we’re sure many fans can’t wait for a tour announcement from the quartet. Book of Black Earth took some time to talk to Metal-Rules.com about the new album and their future plans.

TÝR - Heri Joensen on 'The Lay of Thrym'
Interview by Ann Sulaiman
Originally formed in 1998, Týr blend together traditional Faroese folk melodies with progressive and Viking/pagan heavy metal to form their own style of music. Taking their name from the Norse God of War as well as the title of a Black Sabbath album; the band eventually gained international attention outside the Nordic countries when they signed to Napalm Records in 2006 to release third record 'Ragnarok'.

Interview with Max Cavalera
Conducted by Robert Williams
Cavalera Conspiracy recently issued "Blunt Force Trauma" their devastating second full length album through RoadRunner Records this past March. Frontman Max Cavalera recently took time out of his busy schedule to visit with Metal-Rules.com about what it took to create and record the new record, how he approached writing the powerful lyrical content on "Blunt Force Trauma", performing as direct support for British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden in Brazil, as well as interesting anecdotes about the bonus tracks on the vinyl edition of "Blunt Force Trauma". Expect a heavier, faster and louder musical direction on "Blunt Force Trauma" and be sure to catch Cavalera Conspiracy live in concert when they hit your town. |

HAIL OF BULLETS with Maveth and Hateform
The 21st of May 2011
Nosturi Helsinki, Finland
Review and pics by Arto Lehtinen
Hail Of Bullets visited the Jalometalli festival in Oulu a few years back and did a real bonecrushing and headsmashing gig in front of a lunatic crowd. Both their albums have been highly appreciated and praised amongst the press and die hard death metal fans. Their brutal grinding metal roared out with a blasting blitzkrieg.
But but once again where was the Helsinki audience?! It seems like the latest death metal metal gigs have suffered from a major lack of audience. Appx. 200 death maniacs had arrived at the Nosturi club on Saturday. Seriously, if this trend keeps up and attendance is decreasing all the time, there is a risk there will be no death metal gigs here. So when any death metal is coming to Finland, drag your corpses to the gigs. |

INTERVIEW AND PICTURES BY MARKO SYRJÄLÄ
Wolfsbane are an English heavy metal/hard rock band that formed in Tamworth’s in the mid-80’s. In 1988 they were signed by Rick Rubin’s Def American label and the classic debut LIVE FAST, DIE FAST came out one year later. The band released two more studio albums (DOWN FALL THE GOOD GUYS and WOLFSBANE) until they disbanded in 1994 when lead singer Blaze Bayley went on to join Iron Maiden. After a couple of reunion shows in 2007 and 2009, Wolfsbane officially reunited in June 2010. The original four: Bayley, guitarist Jase Edwards, bassist Jeff Hateley and drummer Steve “Danger” Ellet are currently working on new studio album which should be released later on this year. In April 2011 they did several shows across the U.K supporting NWOBHM legends Saxon and when the tour reached the city called Bournemouth we had the pleasure to sit down and have a few pints with Jase, Jeff and Steve… Read on! |
