TESTAMENT - Alex Skolnick
Interview by Luxi Lahtinen and Marko Syrjala
Live and offstage pictures by Luxi Lahtinen and Marko Syrjala
Thanks to Blake Wolfe for the transcription
There is no doubt that Testament is one of the most important bands in the history of Speed - and Thrash Metal. The original line-up of Testament has released such classic albums as "The Legacy", "New Order" and "Practice What You Preach". In 1992 the band unfortunately lost its two original members when guitarist Alex Skolnick and drummer Louie Clemente decided to leave the band, but luckily the rest of the band still decided to carry on, releasing more high quality albums with several different line-ups.
Now thirteen years later Testament are back with the classic line-up - and let?s at least hope they are here again to stay. We met Alex Skolnick at the backstage after Testament's brilliant performance at the Tuska Festival last July, talked with him about both the days of Legacy (pre-Testament), Testament and his musical career in some other line-ups (Savatage, etc.) naturally as well.
Here?s the result of that particular conversation, so enjoy your reading... ;o)

Y&T - Back On The Road Interview by: Keith McDonald
It has been almost 20 years since Y&T hit the road and played New York, opening for Ace Frehley way back in 1987. The band released their debut album in 1974, yet are sometimes classified as a band from the 80?s, which at times can be good and bad. Band leader and lead singer Dave Meniketti reassembled his band and have been playing select dates around the East Coast. I had the chance to see the band play live and ask Dave about Y&T and what the future plans are. You can check out his website for info on his solo career and of course, Y&T at www.meniketti.com.

Nuclear Assault Interview by Keith McDonald
Nuclear Assault has been on the road since 2002 with the reformed band. They released a live record to hold the fans down until a new studio album is ready. While the band was in the New York area I had an opportunity to speak with Danny Lilker who gave me the lowdown on the band and it?s future plans.

INTERVIEW BY MARKO SYRJ?L?
Pictures by Marko Syrj?l? and www.acceptarchive.com. Transcription by Blake Wolfe
There's no doubt that Accept is a legend and one of the major infuences on the development of many bands in today's metal scene. Accept was originally formed in the early seventies by vocalist Udo Dirkscheinder and some years later the stable lineup was completed with bassist Peter Baltes and guitarist Wolf Hoffmann among other musicians who were soon replaced with guitarist Jorg Fisher and drummer Stefan Kaufmann. This classic lineup recorded such metal classics as "Breaker", "Restless And Wild", "Metal Heart" and "Russian Roulette" before they split up with Udo and Jorg in 1988. In 1989 Accept did another album, "Eat The Heat", with U.S singer David Reece, but after some unsuccessfull touring and then a split with Stefan Kaufmann the band soon disbanded and nothing was heard of Accept for the next few years.
The praised reunion album "Objection Overruled" came out in 1992 and Accept was back in action with classic lineup of Baltes, Kaufmann, Dirkscneider and Hoffmann but without Fisher this time. The new album did relatively well in Europe and Japan and over the next few years Accept continued touring and released two more albums "Death Row" and "Predator" before they disbanded again in 1997. Udo then continued working with his solo band U.D.O. and Stefan Kaufmann joined him. Peter Baltes then actually gave up playing and so did Wolf Hoffmann excluding one classical solo album which he did in 2000.
But now it's year 2005 and Accept are back once again. During their visit to Scandinavia I sat down with Hoffmann and we talked about reasons behind this "third coming", what happened in the past and what might happen in the future?
