Let Me Hear You Scream Sweden Rockkkk.Well the annual roadtrip to Swedenrock by the Finnish Metal Rules.com team is already into it's 11th year! The 2011 line up presented a wide range of metal and hard rock in the line-up. Over 70 metal and rock bands offered one hell of an experience for the attendees. Sweden Rock has been successful during the past ten years as the festival has always been sold out. This year wasn’t any exception as the fest was sold out despite the lousy economic situation worldwide and the ticket price had risen a little bit. ver these 11 years of coverage, it has become quite logical for us to give an in depth article of several bands performing at Sweden Rock to all the readers out there. The weather once again showed positive and negative aspects like in 2010. It either rained or was windy with a little sunshine. But we were there for bands, not for having some beach party crap. Unfortunately, we are not able to cover every bloody band, but hopefully you will have a pleasant reading experience… Enjoy or die!!! |

Heavy T.O.
July 23-24, 2011
Review and pics by Monika Deviat
On July 23rd and 24th, 10 000 metalheads descended upon Downsview Park in Toronto ON for Heavy T.O. The two day festival took place the same weekend as Heavy MTL. This was the third year for Heavy MTL and its success from right from the first year prompted MTL organizers Daniel Glick and Nick Farkas to team up with Live Nation to create Heavy T.O. Two stages had bands playing right after each other, about 11 per day. Heavy T.O. sponsor, Jägermeister had a tent area set up with games and were hosting some of the autograph sessions. Certain bands like Megadeth and Slayer had line-ups of over a hundred people waiting to get signatures from their favorite musicians.

Children of Bodom drummer Jaska Raatikainen
Interviewed on June 30th, 2011 by JP
The Ugly World Tour 2011 / Academy, Manchester UK / April 2nd 2011 / Photo: Amelie Lund
In late June I had the chance and very great pleasure to sit down with Jaska Raatikainen drummer for Children Of Bodom. We met backstage just before the COB hit the stage in Calgary, Alberta on the 6th date of their North American tour. It is very rare for the soft-spoken drummer to grant interviews so we are very pleased to present you this discussion. |

Interview with Paul Speckmann
Conducted by: Carlos M. Llanas
If you ever listened to Master or Abomination, chances are you know about the mastermind behind it all, Paul Speckmann. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Speckmann spent his time writing and performing all through the 80's and continues to play shows today. Sure, he toured with Master and released some killer albums, but before Master's reunion there was something else...something wicked...something relentless. I'm talking about Death Strike of course. As vicious as it is raw, Death Strike's "Fuckin' Death" was the kind of album that you heard and immediately thought "What the fuck? This is wild!" and that's exactly what it was; A wild ride from a genre of metal unheard of for that time. Paul was kind enough to share a few words with Metal-Rules.com and we were more than happy to have him. Here he is...Paul Speckmann.
