One of the hottest singers is the Greek/Swedish Apollo Papathanasio who sings with Firewind, Evil Masquerade, and Spiritual Beggars. Many of you may not know what Apollo was up to before he joined these bands, so I decided to get in touch with him focus more on his earlier work. Be sure to check out the new Evil Masquerade album PENTAGRAM and the new Firewind album FEW AGAINST MANY where Papathansio gets to air his lungs. I have really longed for making this interview and now it's here...

This was a concert full of non-stop adrenaline, brutal as hell, with a bitter sweet agony! This day was expected by many who wanted an insane dose of metal, with an extraordinary outburst from fans who have waited for this for a long time.

On a beautiful summers evening, I made my way down (with brutal hangover intact) to one of my favourite venues, The Borderline in the West End of London, to catch a few bands that I've been meaning to catch for a while, and also hang out with some excellent friends, while most importantly, listening to first class music!

Overkill - Bobby Blitz

Interview with Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth

Conducted by: Carlos M. Llanas

Since the early 80's, Overkill has been ripping stages and releasing albums consecutively, and to this day, they continue to put on energetic and exciting live shows.  They have conquered many fans with their style of thrash metal, and they are considered by many as one of the greatest thrash bands that ever existed; I have to agree completely.  How can you not?  With classic releases like "Feel the fire" and "Taking Over", they helped pave the roadway for a genre with a scene that has benefit greatly by these records.  Sure, the scene has increased significantly since the mid-2000's, but unlike these "Junior Thrashers", Overkill never forgot, and never forgave.

Slayer / Motorhead / Anthrax

Mayhem Festival, Toyota Pavilion
Scranton, PA
August 4, 2012

 Review & photos by Infamousbutcher

Mayhem is a US metal festival sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink that has been around since 2008. It usually has a mix of current popular bands and some classic ones. One of the good things about Mayhem is that it always books large venues that are nearby for me, like Toyota Pavilion in Scranton, Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, and PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel. If there are bands playing that I love, I can hit multiple shows. This year’s version has metal heavyweights Slayer, Motorhead, and Anthrax, which are 3 of my all-time favorite bands. Therefore, in addition to this show in Scranton, I caught the Camden one the week before as well. Today marks my 12th Motorhead show, 9th Anthrax show, and 5th Slayer show and I intend to keep adding to those totals!
