Scorpions
Moment Of Glory (SD Blu-Ray)
October 2013
Released: 2013, Eagle Rock Ent.
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

Originally issued in 2001 on DVD, this 2000 concert finally makes it’s way to Blu-Ray. This SD Blu-Ray is something new and this title is the first one that I have seen. I do not own the original DVD but have seen it before so I cannot do a side by side comparison for you. An SD Blu-Ray is an upscaled DVD with lossless audio if my understanding is correct.

I popped the disc into my player and chose DTS-HD Audio, pressed play and kicked back. After the first song; “Hurricane 2000” which is “Rock You Like A Hurricane” and Klaus began to speak I reached for the remote to turn on the subtitles to see what he was saying as it was all German. Unfortunately it wouldn’t work for me. The video looked great and very close to HD. Some may have trouble telling the difference. The sound was amazing, hearing all the different instruments coming at you from different angles was pure audio joy. Hearing classics like “Rock You Like A Hurricane and “Big City Nights” played with a full orchestra behind a Hard Rock/Metal band is quite different. For “Big City Nights” Ray Wilson from Genesis came out and sang lead along with Klaus which was again, different. Hearing a different vocal on such a classic song is something to get used to but when both of them sang together the voices blended very well. The “Deadly Stung Suite” was another moment that was very interesting. It was basically the Berliner Philharmoniker playing with Matthias on electric. Different to say the least but enjoyable. Surprisingly their songs blended themselves well to having an orchestra play along with them. Unfortunately they never played “No One Like You” from the BLACKOUT album.

After all is said and done this concert is one that you may not watch a lot but every now and then you will haul it out and as I did; sit back, relax and enjoy.
