Mongrels Cross
The Sins of Aquarius
October 2012
Released: 2012, Hells Headbangers Records Rating: 4.0/5 Reviewer: Metal-Rules.com UK Team Mongrels Cross hail from Brisbane, Australia and after releasing their Demo in 2009, an EP in 2011 and a split earlier this year it’s no surprise ‘The Sins of Aquarius’ has been a well anticipated album, and I have to say I don’t think fans will be disappointed! I really liked the intro to this album, sounding like music from a really old creepy horror film, before the heavy drums and aggressive guitar riffs took over and the dark, gritty coarse vocals kicked in! Black metallers will love the well written dark and Satanic lyrics. There are heavy elements of Thrash Black metal which will appeal to metallers who also love their Death/Thrash sounds. There are some tracks that stand out more than others but the album shows great energy, although some tracks are slightly chaotic with some downtempo war-marches, and some tracks sounding more Black Metal than others, but the album has great production and the riffs are great! Recommended for fans of Gospel of the Horns, Bestial Mockery, Grand Belial’s Key and Uncreations. A really great Blackened Thrash album from these Austrian guys! Review by Jo Blackened ![]()
