Steel Panther
British Invasion (Blu-Ray)
November 2012
Released: 2012, Guitar Anarchy Studios
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

After a few delays and rumors we finally get a Steel Panther home video. This concert was filmed back in 2010 and was supposed to have come out a few times since then. The wait wait is finally over and we have it in our hands. It was well worth the wait, even if it has been 2 years.

This was an eagerly anticipated release, especially for those of us that have never had the privilege of going to a Steel Panther show. Watching this Blu-Ray is probably the closest some of us will ever get to the full live Steel Panther concert experience. BRITISH INVASION is one of the best concerts to be released in 2012 so far, if not THE best. Everything about it is first rate, from the picture to the sound and especially the band’s performance. The songs are all performed exceptionally well and the band prove that they are extraordinary musicians, especially Satchel and Michael. These two are really the core of the band and after watching this it is no problem to tell why. From a viewing aspect this concert is near flawless. The picture is crystal clear and really brings out the details of the light show. There are some great camera angles and shots to help give you the full concert experience. There is one slight drawback to this release and that is that some of the between song banter gets a bit old, quick. Yes it is part of their act but it does tend to get a bit tiring at times.

The “Bonus Feature” gives us a few new songs from the BALLS OUT album as well as “Death To All But Metal” with a guest appearance by Corey Taylor. This live portion was filmed at the 2012 Download Festival earlier this year.

I highly recommend this Blu-Ray to anyone that likes 80 Hair Metal, Glam Metal or Metal in general and especially to anyone that has listened to and enjoyed a Steel Panther song or album. This could easily be the Metal home video of 2012.
