Many things have changed the last years for the Greek metal act Crystal Tears. Two album trailers available on YouTube, presented by Ron “Bumblefoot“ Thal of Guns ‘n’ Roses and actor Lew Temple of the successful TV series “THE WALKING DEAD“. The third album, HELLMADE, featuring singer Soren Adamsen (ex-Artillery). Their debut album CHOIRS OF IMMORTAL sold out and finally they shared the stage with W.A.S.P., Riot and Jag Panzer.
I think that Crystal Tears are marching on. The new album’s a hybrid of melodic metal with heavy guitar riffs, fast double-bass drums and power hard rock anthems infused with modern screams and extreme drumming and grooving in parts (“The Skies Are Bleeding”). All the songs are embraced by producer and singer of Mystic Prophecy and Devil’s Train, R. D. Liapakis who is on the front once again, the band evolved to a metal riffing machine ready to kill.
HELLMADE is full of melody and extreme elements while emotional moments and heavy tunes are spelling. There is also a thrashing mood in the record as heard on “Resurrection Suicide”. This is a magnificent blend of heavy, power, thrash, extreme metal and heavy rocks tunes and melodies.
Following their 1997 formation and two great albums, CHOIRS OF IMMORTAL (2006) and GENERATION X (2010), have cultivated the band a diehard following in the death metal underground, the band's smoldering, riff-fueled, warfare upon the religious sects of the human population in a traditional approach yet still retaining a freshness in their delivery.
HELLMADE is a riff-driven heavy/speed furnace. It heats the riffs and throws them at you in a molten stream, and the needling guitar leads are molten, too. The pounding rhythms that rear their head in the song also sound like the hammering of girders in a steel mill... speed and heavy and melodic piece of metal canvas through and through.
