Split 7
July 2014
Released: 2014, Broken Limbs Recordings
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: UK Team

Featuring Midwestern black metal outfit WOLVHAMMER and US stalwart KRIEG, this new split 7 inch is out on Broken Limbs Recording and fuses together two fresh acts, smearing their work all over 500 copies of black and coloured wax.

First comes WOLVHAMMER, with their disgusted anthem “Slaves to the Grime.” This features some moody, Carpathian Frost style riffing forming the foundations for classic style black metal vocals to be well executed on top. Whilst the simple instrumentation fails to impress, there’s nothing so overly mediocre about this track that means it’s not worth your listen. 4/5

On side-B, KRIEG gives a more depressive and twisted feel, with nightmarish vocals and a mean guitar sound that churns out aggressive riffs. 3/5

Certainly a 7” worthy of your collection, for these two great tracks are certainly worth a spin on your turntable now and again.
